Who are the Friends?

People from all walks of life throughout the country and beyond who have one thing in common: we are inspired by the Cathedral’s story and witness, and want to keep in touch and support its work.   The Friends of Coventry Cathedral is a registered charity with its own constitution independent of the Cathedral, but working closely alongside it.

How do the Friends keep in touch?

Through regular newsletters about what’s happening in the Cathedral; through interesting talks that shine light on aspects of the Cathedral and its people; through concerts, and visits to other places of interest; and much more.  We also have get-togethers to meet each other and have fun!

How do the Friends support the work of the Cathedral?

Our membership subscriptions, together with special fund-raising campaigns, enable us to provide help for the Cathedral’s upkeep and activities.  Over the past 10 years, we have managed to contribute some £50,000 towards a variety of projects and initiatives – ranging from repairs to the organ to a new wheelbarrow for the maintenance team! This year and next we are supporting the Cathedral's music and choir with grants of £20,000 each year.

The Friends of Coventry Cathedral was founded in 1934. It is an independent Charity No. 1061176 registered in England and Wales, with an annually elected Council.
